FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

First of all I would suggest looking through the website and getting an idea of what I offer and what might suits your needs, whether you want 1-2-1 training weekly or a training plan to work away at on your own.

Then GET IN TOUCH. Send me a message and we can arrange a telephone chat to go over what you would like to work on, where you currently are at and what your current barriers are that I can help you with.

Then, depending on the programme for you I can either work on a plan and/or we can meet for a first consultation to go over form and technique and how we progress together.

WHERE CAN WE TRAIN?

Depending on restrictions and your needs, we can train together at Adapt Fitness in Leith, where there is a full range of gym equipment, including, dumbbells, kettlebells, barbells and weights, TRX, rower etc. We can also train outside in a public park or in your own garden.

IS THERE PARKING AT ADAPT FITNESS?

The studio is located on Constitution Street in Leith, which does not have available parking, however just around the corner on Leith Links there is free parking 7 days a week

IF WE TRAIN OUTSIDE, WHAT SHOULD I BRING/WEAR?

Please consider the ever-changing Scottish weather. Multiple thin layers are better than one thick layer. Make sure that you are warm enough pre/post training and can shed a layer or two once you get warmed up and moving.

Only ring with you what you feel is necessary, but if you are unsure we can chat before your session to confirm what may or may not be needed.

IF WE HAVE AN OUTDOOR SESSION AND THE WEATHER IS BAD, CAN WE RESCHEDULE?

If there is a combination wind and rain or really tough conditions then we will rearrange the session if that’s the preferred option. However, if you want to continue, I am happy to carry on do the workout as planned.

WHY IS THERE LIMITED AVAILABILITY FOR 1-2-1 RUN COACHING?

It is important as a coach that I look after my own health and wellbeing and be an advocate of self-care. As I already have commitment to running with the We Run Edinburgh groups, I need to ensure that I have enough energy and be physically fit to train myself as well as other

HOW DO I PAY FOR SESSIONS AND/OR PLANS?

Once you are ready to get started and decide on the training focus that you need, I will send you an invoice by email with the 4 week period of training with specific dates or with the quantity of sessions that you require. You then can pay using whatever form of payment you prefer.

WHAT WILL MY TRAINING PLAN LOOK LIKE?

Your training plan will be added to an app so that you have it with you on your phone or desktop. Each workout will be set out clearly for you with the option to make your own notes or send video uploads or messages. I can then check in on your progress and answer ny questions that you might have.

WHY ARE PRICES BASED ON A 4 WEEK TRAINING PLAN?

“Rome was not built in a day” - a cliché but true. One session is not going to reap much reward, it’s really just the start. I recommend starting with a 4-week plan which includes an at-home/gym programme to work on yourself as well as however many sessions you want to work on together. There is the option of sessions only if you don’t want/need a training plan, but it is a good way to keep you accountable for the rest of the week/month.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE BESPOKE TRAINING PLANS AND THE SEMI-BESPOKE TRAINING PLANS?

The bespoke plans are a mix of run and strength training with weekly check-ins and guidance. These are adjusted according to your goals and how you are progressing. Whereas the semi-bespoke plans are just for running. You choose how many runs a week you want to do, What distance and your start date. You have full autonomy and there are no check-ins unless you need to make changes. You are self-motivated towards your goals.
